Hello, my name is Daniel Kim. I am currently a student at Queens College (QC) on a one-year mission trip in Southeast Asia with SOON Movement Global. I share with a grateful heart that I will be extending another year!

I have been involved in SOON for all four years of college. Each one was another step of growing in my relationship with Christ, and I have been faithful to the Lord’s calling, going on summer missions to Cambodia, Asia Minor, and Nepal. During my time here in Southeast Asia, I was confused and frustrated that God was not making His calling for me so visible. I soon stumbled upon the question of whether the God of the universe really needs to show me. Why does He need to?

When I finally surrendered, the Lord used passages I had been meditating on throughout the semester to speak to me. Two verses that spoke to me were Acts 20:22 and John 21:18. They reminded me of Paul, led by the Spirit and not flesh, going somewhere not knowing what would happen to him, and Peter being led to places where he didn’t want to go. And finally, Psalm 23:5, my lack and weaknesses, the Lord will fill and overflow His love and joy in me as I step into this second year and uncertain journey, as He has always done. I still don’t know what will happen if I extend here, and if I’m being real, part of me doesn’t even want to stay. But I experienced God pressing on my heart to remain here longer.

Even if I don’t see what He sees, I believe the LORD is faithful, and I want to follow where He leads.

I hope and pray that throughout this journey, I get to grow closer to the Lord and experience all the love and joy He has set for me! As I take this step of faith, I would love to invite you to join my ministry partner team through finances and/or prayer in reaching the lost. Thank you so much!
