Hello, my name is Daniel Kim. I am currently a student at Queens College (QC), preparing to go on a one-year mission trip to Southeast Asia with SOON Movement Global!

I have been involved with SOON for all four years of college, and for each year of college, it was another year of growing in my relationship with Christ. I have been faithful to the Lord’s calling each year, going on summer missions to Cambodia, Asia Minor, and Nepal.

As I entered my junior year of college, I knew that living a life to glorify God was now my greatest desire. It was a year where I sought God, praying day and night, wanting to find ways in my still young life to choose a path that serves Him best. Later that summer, I went on my third mission trip to Nepal, praying, “Lord, I want to serve you. Please soften my heart and show me how.” On our last night, a Korean student led a prayer, “Lord, give us the heart to pursue a path that brings life to others”. It led to a realization that throughout college, God has been wanting me to recognize the privilege of abundant and eternal life I have through Christ; life is something people all over the world crave, and I have seen it firsthand. God was at work, and He was stirring my heart for those without life, without a taste of the love of Jesus Christ. Giving a year to do overseas missions may sound crazy, but Christ has compelled me to see the Lord’s work as the most beautiful and worthy thing I can do for Him in this season.

People are curious about truth, desperate for love, and hungry for change in their country, societies, and families. I hope and pray that throughout this journey, I get to reflect the love of Christ with each ministry partner and with all the friends in Southeast Asia to come!
